An East Belfast couple are spooking out more adults than kids this Halloween with their scary display at their family home. Gary and Andrea McPhee are well-known for the annual spooktacular and festive display at their home at Melfort Drive in Tullycarnet. This year the couple say they've been having so much fun with their jump scares. Speaking to Belfast Live, Gary said: "We've been doing this for quite a few years every Christmas and Halloween but since lockdown in 2020 when the world was miserable, we've been going all out. It just gets bigger and bigger every year now as we add more bits and pieces. "We really enjoy doing it and seeing how much all the kids and adults who come along enjoy it too. The interactions and the jump scares create a really great atmosphere. We've been dressed up as The Terrifier, Michael Myers and Ghostface from Scream and look like one of the other mannequins in the display. Kids are loving it and adults too although they seem more afraid than the kids do. "The amount of adults we have caught out and made scream is unbelievable But it's all good fun and everyone has a good laugh about it. We are having a blast seeing everyone that comes to the house and all for a great cause. Who knew so many people were afraid of a little old clown?! As I always say, when you come to our house, it'll be either a trick or a treat - you just never know!" All donations this year go to the Children's Cancer Unit in the Royal Victoria Hospital. In the past few years, the couple fundraised for the local Marie Curie Hospice and Tor Bank School which their youngest son Jackson has attended. "The generosity of people every year is unreal, especially when everything is getting more and more expensive and disposable income is harder to come by. Any donations are thoroughly appreciated because we know it's not easy," Gary added. This year's display runs until Halloween night, this Friday, October 31 and then the very next day everything comes down as attention turns to getting the Christmas display ready in time for the end of November.
