Police are investigating after a local bar in Gloucester was broken into over the weekend.
At 7 a.m. Sunday, Gloucester police were notified of the break-in at The Rhumb Line at 40 Railroad Ave. and officers responded to the scene and found evidence of forced entry through a side door, according to a spokesperson for the Gloucester Police Department.
Nine bottles of liquor were stolen and there were “numerous smashed bottles and destroyed property” inside the establishment, according to police.
The break-in occurred on Sunday sometime between midnight and 6:30 a.m., according to police.
The Rhumb Line is a neighborhood restaurant and bar that offers live music nightly. It’s been in business since 1978, according to the bar’s website.

The incident remains under investigation by the Gloucester Police Department Detective Unit, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Unit, police said.
