The 27-minute video captures the standoff from multiple angles on a mobile phone, the police forcing their way into Freeman’s bus and the moment shots are heard.
In the video, obtained by the Daily Mail, Freeman, his wife Amalia “Mali” Freeman and their two-year-old son are barricaded inside a bus at a property in Victoria’s High Country as officers attempt to execute a search warrant on August 26.
The warrant was in relation to allegations Freeman had sexually assaulted a minor.
Throughout the video Freeman accuses police of being “Nazi thugs” and refuses to open the bus door as officers plea for calm.
“We have got a search warrant right here,” an officer reportedly says in the video.
“Come out and talk to us Dez, we are not going away.”
From inside the bus, Mali is heard asking police not to force entry.
“Can you please not barge in? I have a kid, please,” she says.
During the exchange Freeman repeatedly demands to see the search warrant and for a disability liaison officer to be present, claiming he has autism and post-traumatic stress disorder.
When an officer held the warrant against the bus window, Freeman told police he believed it was “not valid.”
“We are just trying to do our job, Dez,” one officer said as another began working on the bus door with a crowbar.
“Come out and talk to us and we won’t have to break in,” he said.
When officers informed Freeman that warrant was in relation to the sexual assault of a girl he erupted stating the allegations were “bulls–t.”
“You have been targeting me for seven years,” Freeman says before demanding he speak with a commanding officer or senior sergeant.
“Tell your goons to stop breaking the door. This is domestic terrorism. Why did you join the police? So you can terrorise families?” Freeman barks as officers continued to pry the door open.
Shortly after Mali tells officers she is coming out of the bus yet she remains inside, while Freeman deny any sexual assault allegations.
Police tell Freeman they do not wish to discuss the matter before his wife and child.
“Did you join the police force to be Nazi f***ing thugs?” Freeman snapped.
“You are just going to kill me.”
“We are not going to kill you,” an officer replied.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson, 59, is seen in the video in front of the other officers dressed in a flannel shirt and jeans.
Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart, 34, remains further away until minutes before the shooting when he moves to the left of the bus door.
Police continually worked to defuse the situation, telling Freeman he is traumatising his child and advising him to “take a breath” and read the warrant.
Freeman continues to insist the warrant is fake, claiming he is living in “Communist Australia.”
Senior Constable Thompson manages to open a bus window.
Ms Freeman tells police “we are coming out” but is told by officers to “move back and stop hindering us.”
Senior Constable Thompson grabs the roof of the bus and hoists himself inside through the window.
Seconds later, two shots ring out and other officers retreat.
The video ends shortly after, the Daily Mail reports.
Senior Constable Thompson and Senior Constable de Waart-Hottart were both shot dead at point blank range, and a third officer injured in the deadly confrontation.
Victoria Police have offered a $1m reward for information leading to Freeman’s capture.
