A two-day State conference of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), titled ‘IMACON 2025’, began at Marina Convention Centre, Feroke, near here, on Saturday (November 8). K.A. Sreevilasan, State president, unfurled the national flag and the IMA flag to mark the opening of the conference. This was followed by a delegates’ meeting and a continuing medical education programme. Thereafter, panel discussions were held on topics such as the crisis being faced by small hospitals, unemployment among medical graduates, anomalies in wage structure, lack of posts in government hospitals and government medical colleges, and attacks on health workers. The women’s wing of the IMA held a meeting in the afternoon. A remembrance event for 110 eminent doctors was organised thereafter. Musician Anoop Sankar and his team presented a musical event in the night. Health Minister Veena George will formally inaugurate the conference on Sunday morning (November 9). M.K. Raghavan, Kozhikode MP, Thottathil Raveendran, MLA, and IMA national president Dilip P. Bhanushali, among others, will be present at the event. A discussion on the report presented by the incumbent functionaries will be held later. It will be followed by the election of new functionaries.
