Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday pledged continued propagation of the ideals of late Premier of Northern Nigeria and Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello.
AbdulRazaq who is the Sardauna of Ilorin stated this when the executives of the Gamji Members Association (GAMA) paid him a courtesy visit in Ilorin.
The governor thanked members of the association for keeping the GAMJI spirit alive, urging them not to rest in their oars.
“It’s important for us to continue to propagate what the late Sardauna of Sokoto stood for. We should channel our energy and resources towards developmental issues just like the Sardauna did while alive. I aso want to urge the GAMA leadership to set up a youth wing of the association to ensure continuity,” the governor said.
AbdulRazaq assured his visitors of his continued support for GAMA and its programmes.
The governor who praised President Bola Tinubu for the innovative economic reforms and transformative programmmes of his administration, noted that all the states were witnessing rapid growth and development from the economic reforms of the current administration.
“There are monumental developments across the states of the federation. States are now able to pay full salaries as and when due. Even the local governments are now executing road projects,” he said.
On insecurity in parts of the state, AbdulRazaq described it as a passing phase. “It will come to pass soon. All hands are on deck to make our state safe and move it forward. The planned recruitment of Forest Guards is to ensure that criminal elements do not take over the ungoverned spaces in parts of the state.”
Highlighting the importance of the ongoing voters’ registration exercise, the governor urged members of the association other stakeholders to encourage the people of the state to take the exercise seriously.
Earlier, the President General of GAMA, Alh Mohammed Tunde Akanbi said the group had passed a vote of confidence in the governor in appreciation of his exemplary leadership’s style which he noted conformed with the ideals of the late Sardauna of Sokoto.
Describing the ongoing developmental projects in the state as unprecedented, Akanbi noted that the projects cut across infrastructure, education, health sectors, amongst others.
He lauded the govenor for renaming of Kwara State Government House as Ahmadu Bello House “as a testament to your belief in the ideals of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello. ”
He assured the governor of the continued support of the members of the association for his administration’s polices and programme.
Other members of the GAMA delegation include the senior adviser/ counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, Dr Ghali Alaaya, Engr. Usman Baba Jibril, Alh Yusuf Abdullahi Jubril, Dr Yusuf Garba Manjo, Lawyer H.O Buhari and Alh Abdullahi Olesin.
