I’m A Celebrity… legend Gillian McKeith has revealed she gets complete strangers to pick up her dog’s poo — and they’re thrilled to do it. The You Are What You Eat star, 66, says fans are so excited to meet her that they don’t even mind handling her dog’s mess. “One thing I absolutely hate is picking up dog poop,” Gillian exclusively told Daily Star in collaboration with casino.org . “I’ve started asking strangers to do it for me… and they do! They’re usually so excited to meet me they just go along with it.” The health guru admits people are often shocked when she asks for help. “They’re a bit surprised,” she laughed. “I don’t blame them. I just really don’t want to pick up dog poop, OK? But I can’t just leave it there.” Gillian says things were very different when she was young. “Back in the old days, nobody picked it up,” she said. “Can you imagine what the streets must have looked like? They must have been gross. Nobody did it.” She first shot to fame in the early 2000s for her hit show You Are What You Eat, where she examined people’s poo to analyse their health. It earned her the nickname ‘Poo Lady’, a title she still wears with pride. “I don’t mind it at all,” she said. “I actually love it. I think it’s funny! In Brazil, I’m affectionately known as Ms Poo. “I’m actually really well-known there because of it. The whole ‘Poo Lady’ thing completely took off, it was a huge deal, especially since talking about that kind of topic was such a massive taboo in Brazil at the time. All the major newspapers wrote about it, saying things like, “Oh my God, what is she doing? How can she talk about this?” and so on. “But then it went global. And people started to realise there was actually a reason to look at your poo – that it can reveal important things about your health, even life-saving things. Suddenly, what had always been an awkward subject became something people could finally talk about. Gut health, the microbiome, and digestion. All of it started to be normalised in a way it never had been before.” Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox? Sign up for our free Daily Star Showbiz newsletter.
