A notable outcome of this partnership is the recently launched training course that scrutinizes The Ridge Incident—a somber review of the 2021 line-of-duty death of Lt. Garrett Ramos. Designed to educate and to inform, the course utilizes audio and visual recordings from the ill-fated incident to walk firefighters through the chain of events that led to the loss of life in a residential fire. "Every lesson identified in the wake of a tragedy must be learned to protect those who continue to serve," Erik Kambarian, IL OSHA Chief, expressed in a statement obtained by the Illinois government's official website. The course is concise, under one hour, and targets firefighters across the hierarchy, emphasizing practical tactics to enhance safety. Amidst an environment where the risk of injury is ever-present, the course titled "Defenses for Firefighters" was initiated in July 2025. The IFSI virtual campus aims to guarantee that all first responders can effortlessly access this vital training resource.
