The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under the Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) scheme on Wednesday with the objective of empowering minorities through skill development.

Under the initiative, IIT Palakkad has designed three special courses, namely junior chip designer, embedded software engineer, and junior drone engineer, for 400 aspirants from the minority communities.

Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian was the chief guest. Minority Affairs Ministry secretary Chandra Shekhar Kumar and deputy secretary Ankur Yadav too attended the function.

Associate professor Arvind Ajoy welcomed the gathering. IIT Palakkad director A. Seshadri Sekhar made a presentation.
