Beneficiary children under the Anbu Karangal programme were distributed identity cards by Ministers and Collectors in the districts on Monday following the inauguration of the scheme in Chennai by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
In Tiruchi, Minister for School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi distributed the cards to the children in the presence of Collector V. Saravanan, Salma, Rajya Sabha Member, and officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Poyyamozhi urged the children to focus on studies and observed that one of the schemes would help check drop outs too among children without parents and those with single parents.
In Tiruchi district, 377 children would get the monthly assistance of ₹2,000 under the scheme. Nearly 12,000 families were screened for identifying the beneficiaries.
In Thanjavur district, 457 children would get the assistance. Higher Education Minister Govi. Chezhiaan distributed the identity cards to beneficiaries of the scheme in the district in the presence of Collector Priyanka Pankajam.
In Pudukottai, Ministers S. Reghupathy and Siva V. Meyyanathan distributed identity cards to 177 children under the scheme at an event held at H. H. Rajah’s College.
In Karur district, 124 children would benefit under the scheme, Collector M. Thangavel said at an event held at Government Arts College at Thanthonimalai.
In Perambalur district, 71 eligible children were identified to get the assistance under the scheme. Collector N. Mirunalini and Lok Sabha Member K. N. Arun Nehru distributed the identity cards to the children. In Ariyalur, 121 children would get the assistance. Collector P. Rathinasamy distributed the identity cards.
Eighty-eight children in Mayiladuthurai and 98 in Tiruvarur would benefit from the scheme. Collectors H. S. Srikanth and V. Mohanachandran, respectively, distributed the identity cards to the children in the presence of elected representatives and officials.
