The Executive Chairman, Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), Professor Nasir Garba Anka has charged contractors handling the Board’s projects to ensure transparency and fairness, saying quality assurance is their mandate on projects execution. Professor Anka disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Board’s Headquarters in Gusau with contractors, engineers, and representatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) He explained that the meeting was convened to ensure that all contractors understand the ethical and professional expectations of the state government in implementing education projects under the 2024 UBEC/ZSUBEB Matching Grant Intervention. The Chairman reminded the contractors of Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rescue Mission Agenda, particularly his unwavering commitment to revamping the education sector in the State. He urged them to complement the Governor’s efforts by executing quality projects that will stand the test of time. “You must be just, fair, and patriotic in the execution of your contracts. Do not give anything to anyone; rather, demonstrate integrity and serve as true ambassadors of Zamfara State. Our collective goal is to ensure that every kobo invested in education yields visible and lasting results,” Professor Anka stated. Earlier on, the Director of Physical Planning further explained to participants that the essence of the meeting was to educate and sensitize contractors on the guidelines and expectations of the 2024 intervention projects. In his remarks, the Managing Consultant, Builder Idris Abubakar Fello, highlighted the roles and responsibilities of contractors and engineers, outlining the standard procedures required for delivering quality work. In his remarks, the Deputy Resident Commissioner of ICPC, Katsina Zonal Office, Suleiman Muhammad Maishanu, underscored the commission’s role in monitoring and ensuring accountability in public contracts. He advised contractors to abide by all terms and conditions of their contract agreements and maintain transparency throughout the project execution process.
