Iconic Kilkenny site to host series of talks next month

St Canice’s Cathedral and Round Tower has announced a series of talks for the month of November. On Thursday evenings from 6:30pm, scholars and professionals have been invited to share on topics reflecting the craftsmanship and detail within St Canice’s Cathedral. The first of the series will take place on November 6; From Parchment to Replica: The Making of the Red Book of Ossory. Dr Susan Hood, Dr John Gillis and Timothy O’Neill will join an illuminating panel discussion on the book and the making of a facsimile. SEE ALSO: Technology panel talk to be held in Kilkenny this week November 13 sees invited guest Dr Michael Waldron, Curator of Collections and Special Projects at Crawford Art Gallery, Cork discuss the beautiful work of Irish Stained-Glass window artist; Harry Clarke: Imagining the Sacred and Profane. Dr Waldron will explore the creative force of Clarke’s often dark and daring imagination in his pursuit of a new ethereal and carnal language. Wrapping up the series of talks, Evan Connon, from Connon Stained Glass will speak on November 20.
