Iconic Big Brother housemate unrecognisable as he joins huge Netflix show

A former Big Brother star is making a return to reality TV and he's undergone quite the transformation. It's been two decades since his stint on the show, and now he's in with a shot at winning millions of pounds on another competition programme. Glyn Wise, who competed on the seventh series of Big Brother back in 2006 and finished in second place, is set for a comeback. His series holds the record as the joint-second longest in Big Brother history, lasting an impressive 93 days . Following his time on the show, Glyn - who was 18 at the time - made several television appearances and was a regular presenter on BBC Radio Cymru from 2006 to 2012. However, in September 2012, he decided to step out of the limelight. Glyn then took up a role as a Welsh language teacher in a secondary school, before becoming a tutor at Cardiff University. But by April 2022, Glyn had switched careers once again, training to become an ordained minister in the Church of Wales, reports the Mirror . Now, he's set to grace our screens once more as part of Netflix's Squid Game: The Challenge. This reality TV spin-off of the hit Korean drama Squid Game sees desperate contestants compete in challenges for a chance to win a hefty cash prize. The original show had a deadly twist - those who lost were killed. Thankfully, the reality TV version isn't quite so lethal, with losing contestants simply being sent home. However, the prize for the winners is nothing short of extraordinary. Whoever bags the grand prize will be pocketing a huge $4.56 million. Viewers were thrilled to see Glyn return to screens but struggled to recognise him after nearly 20 years. Gone is his iconic bleached blonde crop – he's now completely bald and sports a well-groomed beard. Some fans couldn't resist joking about Glyn's notorious lack of cooking skills during his Big Brother stint. "Can he boil an egg yet?" one viewer quipped, whilst another commented: "He's cooking an egg for the very first time." Glyn's Big Brother series was marred by several controversies. The programme faced criticism over its contestant selection, particularly after one housemate threatened to take his own life on live TV. Production staff kept close watch over the individual, who ultimately left the house voluntarily, acknowledging he'd minimised his mental health difficulties during the application process. Further controversy erupted when Glyn was reprimanded for speaking Welsh. Audiences were outraged that he'd been accused of "speaking in code" when Welsh is an official British language. Producers later reversed their decision, permitting both Glyn and fellow Welsh housemate Imogen to converse in their native tongue. Whilst Big Brother featured fewer than 20 participants, Squid Game: The Challenge boasts a staggering 456 contestants. The series launches this November. Squid Game: The Challenge can be streamed on November 4 on Netflix.
