iciHaiti – Obituary : Haitian singer Fabienne Denis passed away24/09/2025 09:52:22

The Ministry of Culture and Communication (MCC) learned with deep sadness of the passing of the talented singer Fabienne Denis, an iconic voice of contemporary Haitian music, renowned for her powerful and spiritual voice, capable of moving both opera lovers and devotees of sacred Vodou music.
An exceptional artist, Fabienne Denis left her mark on the national music scene with her unique timbre and artistic commitment, touching hearts far beyond our borders. Having studied opera singing at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she could not help but let traditional music quickly take precedence over her artistic career.
With her voice, she knew, as René Depestre wrote, “how to transform pain into song and song into hope.” Her passing represents an inestimable loss to Haiti’s cultural heritage.
In this sad circumstance, the Ministry of Culture and Communication respectfully bows before his memory and extends its most sincere condolences to her family, loved ones, fellow artists, and all those who were touched by his art.
