However, that appears not to be the case. NFL insider Ian Rapoport spoke about the situation in Miami, revealing that head coach Mike McDaniel will remain safe. Rapoport spoke about the struggles that Miami has had, including the controversy with Tua Tagovailoa calling out his own teammates for skipping player-only meetings. Even with all of that, his understanding is that Ross is invested in McDaniel. "My understanding is early on in the season for the Dolphins and Mike McDaniel is owner Stephen Ross likes him and believes in him. Has extended him in the past, and wants to go forward with Mike McDaniel. The only thing that would change that is 1. fans stop showing up for the stadium and 2. players stop playing for him. I'm not saying that yesterday was a result of that, but it definitely didn't go in the right direction," Rapoport said. There are many things that McDaniel can do to show these Dolphins players he has control. One might be to start benching players and shaking up the roster. McDaniel spoke to reporters following the loss and offered a blunt comment on the fact that Tagovailoa was benched at the end of the game. The Dolphins signal caller has thrown six interceptions in the last two games. It could be time for the Dolphins to try Ewers. Should McDaniel make such a drastic change, it could alert the rest of the locker room that he means business, and it could be a move that may save his job as head coach. Either way, the Dolphins are on a downward trajectory, but McDaniel remains safe.
