A British popular, trusted food reviewer has shared their take on McDonald’s in Spain after trying the menu items for the first time. When we travel abroad, many of us like to try out the local cuisine and avoid food spots that we can easily get at home. However, some of our favourite brands offer different menus we wouldn’t be able to try at home – and fast food chains look different around the world. The design of McDonald’s chains varies in different cities and towns, as do the menu offerings. Previously featuring items like an Eggs Benedict sandwich, a specific McFish with only ketchup, and breakfast options such as potato tortilla sandwiches and toast with jamón ibérico, the Spanish menu is significantly different to what we get in the UK. 28-year-old Becca, who describes herself as an honest food reviewer, decided to try it out. The reviewer, who is best known as Becca Eats Everything on TikTok where she boats over 500K followers, rated 18 items from the Spanish McDonald’s menu that you will not find in the UK. Coming in at number 18 is a square shaped burger for €7.50 [£6.55], the Chicken and Cheese Burger with bacon pieces on top. Becca said: “There’s quite a strong mustard-y flavour and the quality of the chicken patty, I’d say it’s like a worse McNugget. It’s also quite dry.” She offered it a rating of 2.5/10. She also tried the Topped Fries with Cheese and Bacon for €4.95 [£4.33]. Becca honestly said: “McDonald’s fries are typically floppy and I think for this to work it needs crispier chips…that’s a three out of 10.” On the cheaper side of the menu, there is a McSaver Chicken Barbeque and Cheese burger for €1.75 [£1.53]. Becca rated it at number 16 on her list as she said she is “really not a fan of this cheap chicken”. She offered it a rating of 3.5/10. She also ordered “some bizarre looking things” called Chicken Pops, which she said were dry and missing flavour so she offered the offered the treats a 4/10. Becca was also gobsmacked to see a McExtreme Pulled Pork Burger on the menu. Priced at €9.50 [£8.30], it includes a larger bap with bacon, pulled pork and smoked cheese. Becca said: “It’s not bad. That cheese on the bottom is very smokey and quite salty. There is some sort of maple leaf flavour that is quite pungent.” She offered it a rating of 5/10. An item that Becca insists she was most excited to try was the McExtreme Dip In Cheeseburger. Becca explained: “So, you get a pot of cheese sauce and in here [the burger bun] we have got a burger sauce, two rashers of cheese, and then bacon on the bottom.” Becca said on it’s own the burger is “absolutely amazing”. However, she was left disappointed after dipping her burger into the cheese sauce. Becca added: “Oh no, what is the appeal? It tastes like cheesy butter. An awful consistency. So shiny.” She offered the item a 5/10 rating. In 12th place is the Chicken Caesar Salad for €7.67 [£6.70] which she offered a 5/10. And landing in 11th place with a rating of 6/10 is the White Chocolate Sundae for €3.75 [£3.28]. Becca said she “liked the ice cream and the consistency is good and creamy”, but she wished the white chocolate sauce was not just on the top. The McExtreme Bacon Burger, priced at €9.10 [£7.95] won 10th place in the review. “It just tastes like a bacon and cheese burger…it is what it is, it’s alright,” said Becca. Rating – 6/10. One treat on the menu that made her feel nostalgic is the McShaker Fries with Sour Cream. Becca said: “This is such an interesting concept, so you have your fries in the bag and then you pour in this sour cream mixture and you shake. It feels like something from the ’90s.” Becca said she “doesn’t mind” the product and it reminds her of the Sour Cream and Onion Pringles. She offered the fries a rating of 7/10. Landing in 8th place is the Honey and Mustard Salad for €8.07 [£7.05], which Becca also offered a 7/10. Meanwhile in 7th place is Chicken Wings for €3.07 [£2.68] which Becca says are “pretty good”. She added: “The chicken is tender.” In 6th place is the Spicy Wedges with Cheese and Bacon for €4.95 [£4.33]. “Ooo, see that works,” Becca said after her first bite. She added: “They’re slightly spiced with paprika…can we please have these in McDonald’s [UK]. I would order them every single time.” She gave the wedges a rating of 8.5/10. Coming in at number 5 is the Camembert Bites which Becca paid €4.60 [£4.02]. Becca said: “They are good, really creamy, love the crunch.” She offered them a rating of 9/10. In 4th place, Becca put the “messy looking” McCrispy Bacon and Barbecue Burger for €8.12 [£7.09]. Becca said: “It is really smoky on the tongue, I like the chicken…these sort of egg-washed brioche rolls are fantastic. Why do we not have this? This would be an excellent edition.” For €4.90 [£4.28], Becca tried the Deluxe Fries. Becca said: “They’re delicious. The potato is creamy, lightly spiced.” She offered the fries a rating of 9.5/10. The runner up position goes to the Chips Ahoy McFlurry for €4.30 [£3.76] Becca explained: “You can get this with three different types of sauce, you can get milk chocolate, white chocolate or even caramel – I went for the caramel.” Tucking in, Becca said: “This is insane compared to ours. Wow.” Rating: 9.5/10. And finally, landing in the number one spot is one for the pistachio fans – Pistachio McFlurry for €4.30 [£3.76]. Becca said: “Oh my gosh, that pistachio flavour is good. Wow.” She also offered it a rating of 9.5/10. One individual commented on the post, and said: “Had a Spanish McDonald’s the other week when coming back from Salou, flying from Barcelona, can’t remember exactly what I had but was better then anything iv had in the UK, the range on their menu is far better then the UK’s too.” “Spanish McDonald’s beats your British one any day,” insisted another. “We have the best McDonald’s in Spain,” agreed another local. “I would order anything in the top 6,” insisted one other. “The McShaker fries are insanely good.” Another shared: “I had a Maccies in Benidorm a few years back and the burger had a fried egg with a runny yolk in it and I still think about it to this day.”
