After inputting your postcode, BOXT will present you with several detailed options to choose from. The website is incredibly user-friendly, and even as someone who was clueless about boilers or installation, I found it straightforward to navigate. I was concerned that I might have answered a few questions incorrectly, but the team later checked in to review everything anyway. I chose to relocate my boiler from the attic to an airing cupboard on my first-floor landing, and BOXT were extremely accommodating of this. Having the appliance in the loft was highly inconvenient for me, as I disliked entering it, so I always had to ask someone else to go in for me if it needed resetting. When selecting your boiler, you also have the option to add on radiators, should you require new or replacement fittings. You can then either proceed with booking the installation or easily view available dates on a convenient calendar. Alternatively, if you need more time to consider the investment, you can save your quote to revisit at a later date. While the entire process is online, you can also engage with the BOXT customer service, or ask them for any assistance you may need. Indeed, their customer service was impeccable. It's not just the boiler you're shelling out for, either. Every installation comes with all the bells and whistles you need to get your system upgraded and running smoothly. This includes delivery of the items, top-notch installation, and scaffolding if required. BOXT is currently offering a comprehensive boiler plan from just £33.35 a month, which includes boiler installation, unlimited repairs, replacement and servicing. You also have the option to finance it. After going ahead with the booking, I was asked to snap a few photos to give the engineer a heads-up about my boiler setup. It was a doddle, requiring only six pictures: the current boiler, the current boiler controls, the pipework around the boiler, the position of the flue, your gas meter, and one of the front of your home. To get the photos spot on, I found some handy examples. Having chosen the recommended Worcester Bosch package, I was able to pick a convenient installation date. If I'd wanted, I could've had it installed the very next day, or even on a Saturday. However, I decided to go for the following week, giving me time to clear out the airing cupboard. Before the installation, I sent over various snaps of the boiler, the airing cupboard and the flue so that the boiler engineer knew what they were dealing with. A BOXT engineer also got in touch a few days beforehand to run through the process and answer any queries I had. I initially thought it would be a challenge to navigate this process without someone inspecting the house, but as I discovered with the air conditioning installation, it was a breeze and incredibly straightforward. The boiler engineer turned up promptly on the day of installation, followed by the delivery of the boiler a few hours later. The engineer immediately got down to business and was very considerate when it came to our pets, ensuring the front door remained shut. I left the proficient engineer to his work, and I was astounded by his expertise, as he explained what he was doing and how everything functioned. He worked tirelessly upstairs and in the loft to install the new boiler, which wasn't a simple replacement, but rather a complete relocation. As part of every BOXT boiler installation, the engineer carries out a chemical flush of the entire system as standard. They utilise a chemical cleaning solution to break down accumulated sludge, then reintroduce fresh water into the system, using natural flow pressure to expel the debris. We also opted for an upgrade to a MagnaCleanse system flush, a process that purges your system of harsh, unwanted materials. It offers a quicker and more effective clean by using multiple components to remove magnetite, rust and other build-ups in the system. Furthermore, we chose an in-line scale reducer to help combat limescale, as I reside in an area with particularly hard water. After a solid 10 hours, our new boiler was finally installed in the airing cupboard, and it looked absolutely smashing. I was gobsmacked at how tidy the engineer had left the cupboard, loft, and our home, with not a single speck of dust or sign that we'd had any work done at all. I was then given a quick tutorial on how to use the new boiler, and since we already had a Hive thermostat, we were familiar with how it all worked. We were warned prior to installation that our water pressure might be a little weaker due to our old boiler being extremely powerful, but we haven't experienced that at all.
