A good luck message sent by his former boss at Ipswich Town, ex-Ireland manager Mick McCarthy, is a sign that Cork City’s man in charge, Ger Nash, has some friends in high places. But while Nash has not ruled out the idea of a motivational talk from someone outside of the group to build up the squad’s morale ahead of Sunday’s FAI Cup final against Shamrock Rovers, where Nash’s side are underdogs, he insists it’s business as usual as they try to complete the unusual double of winning the cup (and with it a lucrative ticket to the Europa League) while getting relegated in the same season.
