Human remains of N.Y. man, an Army veteran, found in Oswego County

New Haven, N.Y. — Human remains found in Oswego County have been matched to a Scriba man who went missing in 2012. On Sept. 1, a property owner in the 400 block of Darrow Road in New Haven was clearing a wooded trail when he found human remains, according to a news release from the State Police. On Monday, troopers announced the remains were identified as those of John T. Humphrey. There are no signs of foul play, troopers said. Humphrey was reported missing in 2012. He was last seen walking on state Route 104 near the New Haven Fire Department. The U.S. Army veteran was 48 years old when he was reported missing. He had recently been released from a mental health facility a day before he went missing, according to syracuse.com | The Post-Standard archives. The cause of his death is under investigation.
