Lola Young has announced she’s cancelling all of her upcoming gigs.
The 24-year-old pop star collapsed on stage while performing at the All Things Go music festival in New York on Saturday (September 27). The singer was rushed off stage by medics during the emergency but later told fans that she was “doing OK now”.
However, she had to pull out of her scheduled appearance at the festival in Washington DC. The Messy singer has now sadly announced that she’s had to axe all of her upcoming gigs.
She apologised to fans in an emotional statement which read: “I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future.
“Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.
“Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund. I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger. Love you all, Lola x.”
On Saturday, the star fell to the floor while singing her hit Conceited. The stage was quickly cleared and the audience began to disperse.
Before collapsing, Lola had told her fans: “I wanted to say I had a couple of tricky days. Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue.”
American rapper Doechii – real name is Jaylah Hickman – performed after Lola at the festival and got the crowd to shout “we love you Lola” in support of her after the incident.
“She’s an incredibly talented artist, and she wasn’t feeling well tonight, and I’m so glad you guys were there to support her and hold her up. Let’s wish her the best, OK everybody?”
Lola had cancelled her previous concert over mental health concerns. She had been due to perform at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert at Newark’s Prudential Center.
Her manager, Nick Shymansky, said via her Instagram story that she was pulling out of the performance “due to a sensitive matter”. He later shared: “Lola is very open about her mental health and there are very occasionally days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe.”
He concluded by saying: “She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”
Lola had recently released her third studio album, I’m Only F****ing Myself, and was due to play venues around England and Scotland in October.
