Alejandro Kirk homered twice, and the Blue Jays broke open a close game with a four-run seventh inning as they hammered New York 10-1 in Game 1 on Saturday. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. belted a first-inning home run, Nathan Lukes finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs, and Toronto unleashed a 14-hit attack.
The Yankees closed to within 2-1 when Clay Bellinger worked a bases-loaded walk off starter Kevin Gausman in the top of the sixth. The Blue Jays snapped a seven-game postseason losing streak that dated back to 2016.
Toronto gives the ball to 21-year-old rookie Trey Yesavage to start Game 2. He made three September starts with a 3.21 ERA and 1.429 WHIP in 14 innings with 16 strikeouts. The Yankees go with left-hander Max Fried, who worked 6.1 scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the ALWC.
This is a great MLB baseball matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
