Both teams enter this game with a 2-1 record. Kansas opened its season with an impressive 31-7 win over Fresno State, in which it was led by quarterback Jalon Daniels, who threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns on 18 of 20 passing accuracy. Cam Pickett caught six passes in the game for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Most recently, Kansas fell 42-31 to a top-25 Missouri team. Although the defeat was surely difficult, the Jayhawks did well to battle it out with a strong Tigers squad on the road.West Virginia, meanwhile, defeated Robert Morris 45-3 to open the season but was then upset 17-10 by Ohio. The Mountaineers impressively bounced back, however, defeating hated rival Pitt 31-24 in overtime.
