Colorado State took a week off after escaping with a 21-17 win over FCS Northern Colorado in its home opener on Sept. 6. The Rams avoided the upset when Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi scored on a 13-yard run with 44 seconds remaining. Colorado State, coming off its first bowl appearance since 2017, dropped a 38-21 decision at Washington in its season opener.
UTSA comes off its first win of the season, beating visiting FCS Incarnate Word 48-20 on Sept. 13. Owen McCown threw four touchdown passes and Robert Henry finished with 144 yards and two scores on 14 carries. The Roadrunners opened with a 42-24 loss at then-No. 19 Texas A&M before dropping its home opener 43-36 to visiting Texas State. Colorado State is 2-0 all-time in the series, and Saturday’s matchup is the teams’ first meeting since 2016.
