Blanchett’s character is a world-renowned composer and, crucially, the first female chief conductor of a major German orchestra at the zenith of a stellar career when she has a book launch and is also preparing for a live recording of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony.
Typically perhaps of contemporary cancel culture, controversies about her behavior and the abuse of her situation to allegedly coerce and betray those around here – including her wife and assistant – threaten to bring everything crashing down.
