It hasn’t been a great start to the season for either team; both are 0-1 in Conference USA play and 1-4 overall despite both entering the season with hopes of contending for the conference title.
UTEP brought in former five-star recruit Malachi Nelson this offseason, but he’s really struggled. Last time out against Louisiana Tech, Nelson was 18-for-38 for just 73 yards. He didn’t throw a touchdown but was intercepted four times, including a fourth-quarter pick-six.
Liberty lost starting quarterback Kaidon Salter to the transfer portal and has struggled to replace him. The team’s lone win was over FCS program Maine, and last time out in the team’s CUSA opener against Old Dominion, the Flames managed to score just seven points, with quarterback Michael Merdinger throwing for 77 yards.
This is an excellent college football matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
