Cleveland rolled to the best record in the East last season, finishing 64-18 in its first year under NBA Coach of the Year Kenny Atkinson. But the season disintegrated in a five-game loss to the Indiana Pacers in the second round, and the Cavs, after losing backup point guard Ty Jerome in free agency, sacrificed some wing depth by trading Isaac Okoro to the Bulls for veteran Lonzo Ball. Ball’s presence could be crucial early, as Darius Garland is expected to miss the start of the regular season while recovering from a toe injury.
The Bulls re-signed guard Josh Giddey after losing in the play-in tournament for the third consecutive year. They also drafted French forward Noa Essengue with the No. 12 overall pick and added Okoro in the Ball trade. Chicago is in the midst of a reset after moving on from Zach LaVine at the trade deadline last winter and hopes to carry some momentum from a 15-5 finish to the season.
Chicago won the first meeting of the home-and-home on Tuesday night, taking a 118-117 decision in Cleveland.
This is a great NBA matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
