Just three days after suffering a devastating defeat at the hands of Italian rival Juventus, Inter Milan faces another tough trip into enemy territory away to Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday. Cristian Chivu commanded a huge presence at the San Siro as a player, but his start to life as Inter boss has been anything but smooth. That’s after the Serie A titan suffered a second straight league loss at Juve in its return from the international break and was left sitting 10th in the table.
Ajax is also under new management after former interim head coach Johnny Heitinga took over on permanent terms this summer. And things are going well for the Godenzonen thus far under his tutelage, as they remain one of three teams in the Eredivisie yet to lose this season.
Chivu will take his squad to the Netherlands with no new injury concerns. However, the hosts will be without midfielder Branco van den Boomen, while defender Aaron Bouwman is also a slight doubt.
