Playing ARC Raiders in third person brings tons of different advantages over a first-person perspective, but you’ll want to know how to swap which shoulder you aim from based on your situation. It’s thankfully a quick and easy task — one you’ll do often to get the drop on enemy Raiders. How to swap which shoulder you aim from in ARC Raiders To swap shoulder aim in ARC Raiders, you either press X on keyboard or press the right stick on controller. Doing so will instantly move the camera to look over the opposite shoulder, and there’s no cooldown on using the command. Your reticle and point of fire are unchanged, meaning your bullets will still be coming from and going to the same places. What does change is you gain about 30 additional degrees of vision on the new side while losing the same amount on the other. How to use shoulder swap to win fights Corner peeking is a given in third-person multiplayer games, and if you aren’t doing it, expect that your enemies are. As such, you should always swap shoulders to get the best view around a corner or a piece of cover to plan your attack or check for threats. Just because you can’t see someone doesn’t mean they aren’t there. I won a fight I had no business even taking because I had my shoulder aimed on the correct side and played my cards well. You don’t need to be cautious of enemy players, either. Using a swapped shoulder peek to outmaneuver the ARC bots is just as viable. Unless an ARC is seriously attached to you, you can break line of sight behind hard cover and potentially get it to leave you alone. Having your shoulder swapped so you can see the color of the ARC’s vision cone also lets you keep watch in case it latches onto someone else. The NPC factions in extraction shooters like ARC Raiders exist to be a mild threat to the unprepared and to be another way of locating where other players are. Use the ARC as a warning system to learn if there are more human threats nearby. Understand that you can quickly become the target of the ARC’s ire if you aren’t careful, and sometimes you’ll need to destroy them, but that’s another story.
