You can solo defeat Poison Hydreigon in Pokmeon Scarlet and Violet 7-star Tera Raid, although it will not be very easy. On top of having both Dark- and Dragon-type attacks, Hydreigon also gains the Poison Tera-type in this raid. Paired with its Levitate ability, your selection pool to solo defeat this monster becomes restricted. Only a handful of Pokemon with the right builds and AI teammates can bring it down.Poison-tera Hydreigon with Mightiest Mark will be available in 7-star Tera Raids for both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players from November 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM PST to November 9, 2025, at 3:59 PM PST. However, it will return once again after a short break, from November 13, 2025, at 4:00 PM PST to November 16, 2025, at 3:59 PM PST.In this guide, we will explain how you can solo defeat Poison Hydreigon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7-star Tera Raids, along with the exact build that you should use.Best counters and strategy to solo defeat Poison Hydreigon 7-star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and VioletThe raid-boss in-game (Image via TPC || Fo Keezy on Youtube)These are the best Pokemon to solo defeat Poison Hydreigon 7-star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:MalamarBlisseyEspathraYou can find a detailed explanation of the builds that you should use on all of these Pokemon to solo defeat 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon below:1) MalamarMalamar is the best option to solo defeat 7-star Poison Hydreigon (Image via TPC)Use this Malamar build to solo defeat 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon:Tera Type: PsychicAbility: ContraryHeld Item: Shell BellNature: Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk)EV Spread: 252 HP / 252 Sp. Def / 4 Sp. AtkIVs: Hyper TrainedMoveset: Calm Mind, Skill Swap, Rest, Stored Power / Psycho CutMalamar is the best counter that you can use to solo defeat 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The star of the show is your Contrary ability, which you will transfer to Hydreigon using Skill Swap. This will make Hydreigon automatically debuff itself everytime it uses Nasty Plot, and its damage output will drastically decrease. As soon as you head into the fight, Hydreigon will start with a Snarl, which will buff Malamar's stats because of Contrary. Next, you will immediately want to use Skill Swap, permanently giving Hydreigon the Contrary ability. Hit Calm Mind once and then go for Stored Power or Psycho Cut to deal damage. At the 70% timer mark, Hydreigon will use Nasty Plot. Owing to the Contrary that it now has, Hydreigon will debuff itself instead. Keep using Stored Power or Psycho Cut to deal damage. Make sure to terastalize as soon as you have enough charge. If you are at low health, hit the Rest move and recover all of it. You can also go for a Cheer, although it's better to use it for stat increases instead.Hydreigon will go for another Nasty Plot at around 55% timer, and this will further decrease its Special Attack. It will also reset your stats at this point, so hit another Calm Mind and keep using your attacking moves. Finally, at thr 40% health mark, Hydreigon will use Dragon Dance. Unfortunately, Contrary will debuff it further. At this point, victory is guaranteed.Note that because this build is based on giving Contrary to Hydreigon, you do not want any Intimidate users amongst your AI teammates. In case you do have someone with this ability, reset the Raid and keep rolling till there's none. Other supports like Bellibolt (for Light Screen) and Gardevoir (for heals) work great in this setup. Also read - 5 best Doubles teams in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet VGC Regulation J (October 2025)2) BlisseyBlissey is a great option to solo defeat this critter (Image via TPC)For Blissey, here is the build that you should use:Tera Type: PsychicAbility: Natural CureHeld Item: Covert CloakNature: Calm (+Sp. Def, -Atk)EV Spread: 252 HP / 252 Sp. Def / 4 Sp. AtkIVs: Hyper TrainedMoveset: Calm Mind, Soft Boiled, Light Screen, Stored PowerBlissey is a comfortable pick to solo defeat 7-star Poison Hydreigon Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. A Hyper Trained Blissey has a massive amount of health, which allows it to tank Hydreigon's hits better than the other options. Blissey's ability itself does not matter for this build, however, you will want to PP-max out Soft Boiled and Stored Power. At the start of the fight, use Calm Mind four times to get your multipliers up. If at any point your health drops to below 50% (or 400 HP), use Soft Boiled to get it up. Once you have four stacks of Calm Mind up, keep hitting Hydreigon with Stored Power. Once again, terastalize as soon as possible to further maximize your damage output. Before you break Hydreigon's tera shield, make sure to put in your own Light Screen up. This will block a significant chunk of the damage from Dark Pulse, which Hygreigon will frequently use. You do not need to worry about Nasty Plot uses, since your Calm Mind + Soft Boiled combo will sustain you easily.Once Hydreigon resets Blissey's stats, this is where things can get slightly tricky. You need to alternate between using Calm Mind and Soft Boiled to ensure survivability. The aim is to get at least three stacks of Calm Mind, following which two or three Stored Power will completely deplete Hydreigon's health.Read more: All Pokemon games in development (according to leaks)3) EspathraEspathra is an underrated but fun option to solo defeat this raid boss (Image via TPC)Here is the Espathra build that you should use against 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon:Tera Type: PsychicAbility: OpportunistHeld Item: Covert CloakNature: Calm (+Sp. Def, -Atk)EV Spread: 252 HP / 252 Sp. Def / 4 Sp. AtkIVs: Hyper TrainedMoveset: Calm Mind, Lumina Crash, RoostEspathra is a rather unconventional pick to solo defeat 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon. The key factor here once again lies in its Opportunist ability, which copies any buff that Hydreigon applies to itself. From the beginning, keep hitting Lumina Crash and dealing damage, while also reducing Hydreigon's Special Defense. At around the 82% timer mark, Hydreigon will reset its stats. Even at this point, you should just focus on hitting with Lumina Crash and dealing as much damage as possible while once again reducing its Special Defense stat. If you fall below 50% HP at any point, use Roost to get it back up.Any time when Hydreigon uses Nasty Plot, which will be twice during the entire raid, Espathra's Opportunist will kick in and it will also boost its stats. This will work to your advantage to deal further damage with Lumina Crash, especially if Hydreigon's defenses are already lowered. If you are confident that you are about to be knocked out, make sure to Cheer and get your Attack stats up to get the permanent buff. Similar to all other builds, terastalize as soon as your charge is up, and just spam Lumina Crash till you completely chip away Hydreigon's health. Since Espathra does not have a lot of health, you need to properly regulate using Roost in order to sustain yourself. The only major risk is if Hydreigon lands a Critical Attack, which can potentially STAB you without the chance to use Roost. However, this is a luck-based happenstance, and should not affect too much in most cases.Other than these Pokemon, you can also use other options like Gallade, Groudon or Landorus with Smack Down to cancel Levitate, or even Galarian Slowking to solo-defeat Poison Hydreigon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7-star Tera Raid.Follow Sportskeeda's Pokemon hub for more articles and coverage.
