How to pick locks in Dying Light: The Beast

If you’re looking for some of the best loot in Dying Light: The Beast, you’re likely to find it behind a locked door or a locked chest. Thankfully, you can pick most door locks in the game, and the process could be a familiar one.

How to pick locks in Dying Light: The Beast

Picking locks in Dying Light: The Beast is a fairly simple process. When you come across a lock you can pick, and have lockpicks in your inventory, interact with the lock to open a minigame window.

In this minigame, you need to move the pick left or right to find the window where you can turn the lock and open it. Put another way, once in the minigame window, use the mouse or control sticks to turn the pick one way or the other, then press the use key.

If the lock shakes but does not turn, you need to adjust the pick direction. If the lock turns some, but less than 90 degrees to the left, you’re getting close. The lock will only open when it turns a full 90 degrees and you hear the telltale “click” sound.

Every lock also has an associated difficulty, from Very Easy to Very Hard. The higher the lock difficulty, the thinner the unlocking window is, and the faster it eats through your lockpick’s durability when you jiggle it.

Oh, and yes, this is exactly how lockpicks work in Skyrim. But that’s beside the point.
