It would be a Borderlands game if there weren’t broken as sin Legendaries that are just as hard to come by. The Bod Legendary Shotgun is one of the best, capable of massive damage, incredible build synergy, and even some challenge comfort. Here’s how to get it.
Where to get The Bod Legendary Shotgun in Borderlands 4
To get The Bod, you need to earn it as a random drop from the Axemaul boss in the Dominion region of Kairos. That means completing the main story missions for the other three areas first, a task that can take 20 hours or more, depending on how fast you progress.
Once you unlock Dominion, you need to reach the Toil of Spoiling Vis Abandoned Auger Mine. It’s not hard to find. From the Final Defiance Fast Travel Point near the hole in the Dominion wall, travel out into the plaza and down the ramp.
From there, turn left and follow the wall until you see a smaller hole in it. Through this smaller hole is the Abandoned Auger Mine.
Head inside the mine and keep right, to the north. You can either kill all the enemies you find or ignore them. Go through the tunnel until you reach a large room with a Ripper drill buried in the middle.
Across the room is a Phase portal you can grapple through. Do so, then jump across the upper platforms to reach Axemaul’s boss room.
Every time you kill Axemaul, you have a chance for it to drop The Bod. Just don’t expect it on the first run. Or, if you have my luck, the 200th.
How to get The Bod Legendary Shotgun in Borderlands 2
The Bod seems to be an incredibly rare drop from Axemaul, or at least it was for me. I went 15 Legendaries before I saw one The Bod. It is my sincere hope you have better luck than I did.
On a slightly lighter note, you’ll want to be at or around level 40 on Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode (UVHM) 1, as that’s the general level of everything in the Toil of Spoiling Vis Abandoned Auger Mine. Unless you’re past that point, in which case the levels will continue to trend upward.
Why you want The Bod in Borderlands 4
The Bod is unique for a few reasons. The most important is its perk, the All-Rounder, which makes it count as a Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Assault Rifle, Pistol, and SMG all at once. That means any buff that applies to any of them applies to The Bod. And like everything in Borderlands 4, these bonuses stack.
The Bod can also come with an SMG or Assault Rifle firing mode, meaning it uses that ammo type to shoot, even if its magazine doesn’t grow. As a full-auto shotgun with 8-13 rounds in the mag, having 1,000+ shells in reserve makes it almost impossible to run out of ammo.
I thoroughly recommend waiting to farm The Bod until you reach level 50, as needing to kill Axemaul several dozen times at least for another one is a fate I don’t wish on anyone. I dread it already.
