How Neev Foundation is slashing legal red tape; Plan B’s focus on comfort

Shadowfax is one step closer to its big debut on the bourses. The hyperlocal logistics provider has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India for its Rs 2,000–2,500 crore initial public offering. All investor eyes, meanwhile, are on the upcoming US-China trade talks, where US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will meet with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng to try to forestall an escalation of US tariffs on Chinese goods that President Donald Trump said was unsustainable. China’s influence over global trade is an undeniable fact. But how exactly have the scales shifted in its favour over the years? Two words: sea ports. Now, Beijing’s massive maritime network might just be too big to unravel. It looks like India, too, is making progress in bridging its tumultuous relationship with the US after their trade deal dispute. The two sides have narrowed their differences on trade-related matters, according to officials. The signs are also pointing to a consensus on the horizon on one of the most contentious factors behind the dispute: the purchase of Russian oil by India. In today’s newsletter, we will talk about How Neev Foundation is slashing legal red tape Plan B’s focus on comfort Powering EV adoption for logistics Here’s your trivia for today: Which toy featured in the first toy commercial aired on TV in 1952? Social Impact How Neev Foundation is slashing legal red tape In a country where laws promise protection but access remains a privilege, Mishika Singh’s Neev Foundation is a rare bridge cutting through the procedural grind that defines most legal processes in India. The Delhi-based lawyer says Neev grew from a simple yet unaddressed understanding that the law, while meant for everyone, is accessed by only a few. Singh’s organisation steps into that gap—meeting women, workers, and families—where rights exist only on paper, and helps translate them into reality. Legal awareness: Neev works on three broad fronts—access to justice, gender-based violence, and human rights awareness. Its clients include urban poor with little to no education who are riot victims, survivors of domestic violence, women workers in informal sectors, and families entangled in bureaucratic or civic disputes. The organisation also holds legal awareness sessions, held in partnership with local NGOs, that cover the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment), and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). Neev’s model prioritises mediation before litigation. The team’s mediators—all external—help parties reach settlements that can then be legally formalised. Plan B’s focus on comfort Mumbai-based company Plan B focuses on manufacturing comfortable and high-quality innerwear for children aged 1 to 16 years. The brand’s name, a playful nod to “Plan (a) Baby,” reflects the founders, Vaidehi Shah and Sneha Raisoni’s intent to bring joy and individuality into an essential clothing category that had long remained functional but uninspired. Clothing essentials: The brand offers over 250 SKUs across boys’ and girls’ innerwear and essentials. Its early collections launched 30 unique designs, inspired by themes like animals, musical instruments, and nature rather than generic cartoon characters. Plan B sells via its D2C website, leading marketplaces including Amazon, FirstCry, Flipkart, Myntra, Nykaa, and Ajio, and quick commerce platforms such as Swiggy Instamart and Zepto. The company is expanding at double-digit growth year-on-year, with FY24–25 projections of 200% growth based on April–August data, and aims to reach Rs 100 crore ARR by FY25–26. Powering EV adoption for logistics India’s shift to electric mobility is often linked with shiny cars and charging hubs, but the real change lies in commercial fleets—the vans, autos, and cargo three-wheelers that keep logistics and last-mile delivery moving. The huge upfront cost of these vehicles, however, remains a huge challenge for operators. This is the gap that Delhi-based ALT Mobility set out to bridge. Founded in 2022, it is tackling the high cost of EV ownership with a leasing and lifecycle management platform. News & updates Rival bids: NASA’s top official said the US space agency was opening up the contract for its Artemis 3 moon mission to compete against SpaceX, which he said was running behind schedule. Outage: Amazon’s cloud services unit AWS was recovering on Monday from a widespread outage that knocked out thousands of websites, along with some of the world’s most popular apps—Snapchat and Reddit—and disrupted businesses globally. Investor pressure: Activist investor Jana Partners has built a stake in Cooper Cos. and plans to push for strategic alternatives, including a potential deal to combine its contact-lens unit with rival Bausch + Lomb.
