Ray D'Arcy was on a hefty sum at RTÉ before the radio host decided to leave the airwaves in a shock move at the beginning of October after a decade. However, he did take a large pay cut from the previous year. The TV presenter slammed senior management at the national broadcaster at the time of his departure, admitting he was 'hugely disappointed' with how higher-ups handled his departure. While Ray didn't make the list of top 10 earners, which was largely dominated by management, in 2024, he did make a sizeable salary. It has been revealed that he ranked 12th among his colleagues. Ray received €220,409 through his firm, Whatnext Productions Ltd, according to the Irish Independent. His salary fell behind fellow presenters and pals, Joe Duffy, Claire Byrne, Patrick Kielty, Miriam O'Callaghan, and Brendan O'Connor, in that order. However, he was paid significantly less than he had been the previous year, with almost €30,000 less going into his bank account. The decrease was likely a kick in the teeth for the star, who held fourth place on the list in 2023, with an annual salary of €250,000. Ray didn't cite payment for his decision to leave his job at Radio One, though he did vow that he would continue on as a radio host elsewhere if he was given the opportunity. The Kildare man previously opened up to EVOKE about his departure, telling us he is 'hugely disappointed with RTÉ management and how my departure from Radio 1 has been handled.' 'I’ve been with Radio 1 for the past 11 years. In that time, I have worked with some brilliant people. I want to thank them. I also want to thank all the regulars on the show, the guests, and the wonderful loyal listeners,' he added. 'I am particularly proud of how the show championed the stories and causes of people like Catherine Corless, Erica Fleming, Katriona O’Sullivan, and the late Vicky Phelan. 'I am also very proud of how we highlighted mental health and addiction issues over the years – these are areas I will continue to be active in. I love radio, and daily radio is part of who I am. I look forward to the opportunities ahead.
