Having already established his name in the shortest format, across his time in England he demonstrated the temperament to succeed in the longest format as well. His scores in his first four county innings were 100, 56, 47, and 112. His two centuries came off 241 and 256 balls respectively, showing his ability to bat for long durations.The southpaw batter has openly expressed his fondness for Test cricket and his desire not to be pigeonholed as a T20 specialist. With this stint, it seems he is on the right path.Ishan Kishan (Nottinghamshire)2 matches | 164 runs @ 82.00, SR 118; HS: 87, 50s: 2Kishan signed a short-term County Championship deal with eventual champions Nottinghamshire. He nearly scored a century on his debut, making a brisk 87 off 98 balls, which included 12 fours and a six. In his only other innings, he scored 77 off 128 deliveries. He also kept wicket in both of those matches.Back in India's central contract list for the 2024-25 season, Kishan was the prime contender to replace the injured Rishabh Pant midway through the 2025 Test series against England. However, apart from his best County Championship figures of 6-118 against Derbyshire, Chahal had a lukewarm outing this year.In the One-Day Cup, however, he took six wickets in his first three matches, including 3-30 against Durham, but then went wicketless in his next three appearances. His career-best 8-51 in the second innings was instrumental in defending a target of 181, bowling Hampshire out for 160. This marked his seventh first-class five-wicket haul and his first since his 5-161 for Rajasthan against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. Having taken two wickets in the first innings, his second innings rout also meant he secured his first first-class ten-for.Washington Sundar (Hampshire)2 matches | 136 runs @ 34; HS: 56, 50s: 14 wickets @ 38.50; BBI: 3-5, 5WIS: 0Coming off a stellar Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Sundar signed for his second county team; he previously played two matches for Lancashire in 2022. He played two matches, ending with a 5-72 in the last innings against Durham. His battle with Yorkshire captain Jonny Bairstow to get his first wicket in the competition was an enthralling one.Khaleel Ahmed (Essex)2 matches | 4 wickets @ 64.50; BBI: 2-46, 5WIS: 0Another Indian player to withdraw midseason for personal reasons, Khaleel returned home after just two County Championship games. This cut short a schedule which was supposed to include six first-class matches and the entire One-Day Cup. He was dismissed for a duck in his opening innings against Somerset, and record a second nought against Sussex a week later.
