Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City welcomed a new Housewife, Bronwyn Newport, who has only solidified her status in the group in the new season. The mother of one joined the series as a friend of Lisa Barlow’s, but the two soon had a falling out after Bronwyn didn’t feel supported by Lisa.
In her first season, Bronwyn wasn’t as outspoken as the other women and held back some important information, which came out after the series aired. Now, Bronwyn is redeeming herself and has already stood on her own two feet against the other women. Her redemption arc has also caught the praise of executive producer Andy Cohen, hinting at a new RHOSLC star.
Andy Cohen Gave Bronwyn Newport “Props” For Her Honesty
In the season 6 premiere of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Bronwyn Newport and Lisa Barlow’s friendship was still on shaky ground from the previous season. RHOSLC has quickly become one of Bravo’s best reality shows for the dynamics in the friend group.
At the season 5 reunion, Bronwyn insinuated that she owned the $4 million necklace she was wearing and that her husband had gifted it to her for their anniversary. Lisa called Bronwyn out, stating she was friends with the jeweler, and she knew for a fact that Bronwyn never bought the necklace.
Bronwyn disagreed and defended herself at the reunion, but things changed in season 6. Bronwyn admitted that she did, in fact, lie about owning the necklace and questioned her own morals for lying for entertainment.
In the premiere episode, Bronwyn dissected her thought process and acknowledged lying during a confessional.
“It is my fault. I should not have tried to be cutesy about it. I shouldn’t have said it that way. I shouldn’t’ve. I was trying to protect myself and the jeweler, and it came out sounding like a lie. And that’s bad on me.”
Following the premiere on a September 23 episode of Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, Andy admired Bronwyn for admitting she lied. Unlike many Housewives before her, many would have taken that lie to the grave. Instead, Bronwyn is a shining example of humility and grace after publicly admitting her flaws.
“I loved what you said about that. I thought it was really great. I thought you totally owned it… We rarely hear someone saying, ‘You know what? I was trying to look cool.’ … Much props for that.”
It can be hard to get praise from Andy, especially as a new Housewife. Remaining on his good side could lead to a longer stint in the franchise, especially since Bronwyn had a strong start in season 6.
However, admitting she lied about owning a $4 million necklace was just the start. There are some other skeletons in her closet that she needs to address to stay on top of the food chain.
Bronwyn Newport’s Skeletons Are Out Of The Closet (But She Has To Own Them)
Although Bronwyn Newport had a strong start to season 6 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, some hidden red flags came out in the press after her first season that she should address if she wants to remain in good standing with the fandom.
Bronwyn Newport has been honest about her rocky marriage to her husband, Todd Bradley, but they worked on their relationship after season 5 and appear stronger for it. However, Bronwyn’s ex-husband came out of the woods and called Bronwyn a “social climber,” according to The Sun.
Brodie Stringer and Bronwyn were married for a year in their early 20s and claimed she always had a “fake persona” that was perfect for reality TV.
Always Unscripted also uncovered posts from an X user who outted Bronwyn’s criminal past. According to alleged court documents, she has “three separate counts of grand theft alongside one charge of identity theft.”
As of this publication, Bronwyn hasn’t responded to her alleged felonies. However, her co-star Lisa Barlow is gunning for her on RHOSLC for her shady past. Ironically, Lisa Barlow has unpaid lawsuits and skeletons in her closet that she needs to respond to in the new season as well.
A wealthy life, a shaky marriage, praise from Andy Cohen, and honesty about a dark past, Bronwyn is one step closer to being RHOSLC’s breakout star.
