The incident happened about 1.20pm on Thursday on the Hume Highway, at the Sally’s Corner Rd off-ramp near Sutton Forrest. A police spokesman said the driver was rushed to hospital in a serious condition. They said it was believed horses were inside the trailer when it crashed. It is not known what condition the horses are in. A Facebook post from police said multiple emergency services were at the scene. Both south and northbound lanes were closed near the Sutton Forrest service station, while crews responded to the incident. Transport NSW advised on southbound lane of the Hume Highway at Sutton Forest was open and one remained closed at 5.30pm. “Traffic is still heavy, so motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time,” a spokesman said. “All northbound lanes of the Hume Highway are open, but northbound traffic is heavy as well.” “Be patient and show kindness as police, the Rural Fire Service, ambulance and other services do their very best to resolve the situation,” the post stated.
