A teenager has been left "traumatised" after being brutally attacked outside her school. Her horrified mum, who does not want to be named, said her 14-year-old daughter was walking home from school when she was punched and kicked by a group of other youngsters. The attack outside the Cockburn John Charles Academy in Belle Isle, Leeds, was filmed in a viral video. The shocking footage from October 16 showing teenagers viciously punching the girl to the ground. She is then punched and kicked in the head. A friend of the family, speaking on their behalf, said: "She's been beaten up very badly, she's been traumatised." She said the girl was also threatened not to tell people about what happened. The friend said: "So the poor girl came back home and her mum and dad didn't even know what happened. Because everything has been filmed on phones and there was this video. "One of the mums, she saw the video and she went to the school the next day and told them about the incident. So the school called the mum [of the attacked student] and told her that the incident happened, and she got the videos and everything. "So obviously, she's been very, very traumatised, and she was very scared." Video footage of the attack shows the girl pushed to the ground while being punched and stamped on by another girl. More footage shows girls chasing the pupil, before pulling her hair and punching her repeatedly in the head. Now, the family friend says the girl has been left too afraid to go back to school. The family have been left afraid for her, as they are concerned about potential future attacks, as well as the girl's mental health. The friend said: "I saw her today, she doesn't even talk. I was shocked, she's 14, she's been beaten up by five girls and filmed and everything. I don't even know even how to explain it. "I wouldn't even, to a person I hated, want it to happen to him because it's really not ok. It's actually made me cry." In a statement, Cockburn John Charles Academy said: "We are aware of the incident that happened in the community, the school is working with West Yorkshire Police, who are dealing with this incident and we are appropriately supporting all involved." West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police are investigating an assault which is reported to have occurred in Old Run Road, Hunslet on Thursday, 16 October. "The incident, in which the victim suffered minor injuries, is being investigated by the Leeds District Investigations Team. "Officers are aware that footage appearing to relate to this incident is circulating on social media and are making further enquiries into the circumstances."
