Horror legend Robert Englund, who is best known for haunting fans as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street, is finally receiving an honor he’s long deserved. And fittingly, it is happening on Halloween. Though “way overdue,” as many fans noted, the timing is also just right to celebrate the actor who has made a decades-long impact on the horror genre, and whose name is synonymous with one of the most iconic horror film villains. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 The 78-year-old will be celebrated with his own Hollywood Walk of Fame star—the 2,826th star, to be exact—on Oct. 31 in Los Angeles. “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Robert Englund to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” stated Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer in the announcement. “I think the timing of having Robert’s star on Halloween is most fitting as Robert’s legacy is deeply entwined with the very spirit of Halloween. Fans and industry peers alike will gather to celebrate a performer whose iconic work continues to haunt and inspire audiences around the globe,” Martinez added. Englund’s star will be in the Motion Pictures category, with emcee Steve Nissen joined by director Eli Roth and Heather Langenkamp, who portrayed Nancy Thompson in the franchise, as guest speakers. The icon previously teased the major event, writing, “I heard I’m getting a treat at 11:30 on 6644 Hollywood Boulevard!” alongside a photo of a star with his name, and a shadow of Krueger’s weapon of choice—the bladed glove. Fans quickly flooded social media to share celebratory comments for the “well-deserved” honor, while also extending gratitude to the “legend.” Many expressed that Krueger was responsible for some of their best childhood memories, writing, “Thank you for bringing the classic horror to my childhood 🔥” someone wrote, as another noted, “The greatest horror actor to ever grace any movie!” and a third emphasized, “We had the best child hood. Thank you for the nightmares 😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥🔥 the best scary movies EVER.” “Deserved and also a little late ❤️💚GOAT,” one fan chimed in, with another echoing, “Wayyyyyyyy past time.” “Congratulations to the king of horror!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌” another summed it up.
