HORNBACH, one of the leading local retailers of building and gardening materials, will open its second store in Timișoara on October 1, 2025.
The total value of the project exceeds 44 million euros and includes the land acquisition, construction of the store, equipment, and initial stock of goods. This marks the second HORNBACH opening this year, following the launch of a new store in Bucharest’s Colentina area in September.
“The success of our first store in the northern part of Timișoara confirmed the potential of the local market. We have received numerous requests from customers in this area of the city, who previously had to travel long distances to reach us. With this new location, residents of Moșnița, Urseni, or Giroc will be able to reach HORNBACH in less than 15 minutes,” said Radu Oniga, General Manager of HORNBACH Romania.
“Beyond the investment in the new Timișoara store, we also allocated a budget of more than €2 million for the development of public infrastructure. Over 500 meters of streets with full utilities and a modern intersection have been built from scratch, supporting the urban development of the area,” emphasized Dan Bădescu, Expansion Director of HORNBACH Romania.
The new store is built on a 55,000 m² plot and offers 570 parking spaces. With a total surface of over 19,000 m², it features three main areas: 8,200 m² of indoor retail space, 5,000 m² for the Drive In section, and 5,800 m² for the garden center.
At the time of opening, the store will operate with around 120 employees, more than 90% of whom have already been recruited and integrated into training programs.
With this new team, HORNBACH’s workforce in Romania now exceeds 1,500 employees, further strengthening the company’s position in the DIY retail market.
