Honda CB500 Super Four and CBR500R Four Unveiled- What's New

Honda has ingested excitement in the motorcycle world by unveiling two brand-new bikes– the CB500 Super Four and the CBR500R Four, at the 2025 China International Motorcycle Exhibition (CIMA). These bikes are special as they bring back a rare engine type in the mid-size motorcycle segment which is the ‘inline-four engine’. For beginners, an inline-four is a type of engine configuration that uses four cylinders lined up in a row, and it is known for smooth power delivery, thrilling performance, and a signature exhaust note that bikers absolutely love. What’s New?Both motorbikes are powered by a newly developed 502cc inline-four engine, which is paired with Honda’s modern E-Clutch technology. This system allows riders to shift gears without using the clutch lever and is perfect for those who want sporty performance but with added convenience. CB500 Super Four is a retro-styled naked bike that carries forward Honda’s legendary four-cylinder heritage. This bike traces its roots back to the iconic CB750 Four which is often called the world’s first superbike and the CB400SF from the 1990s.CBR500R Four is a sharp-looking, fully faired sports bike developed mainly for the Chinese market and it takes design inspiration from Honda’s famous CBR family, this is built for speed and agility. Tech & FeaturesBoth motorbikes aren’t just about heritage, but they are packed with modern technology: Ride-by-wire throttle for precise acceleration.Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) to prevent wheel slip.Five riding modes to suit different styles.A sleek 5-inch TFT display with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity. Why This MattersIn recent years, most mid-size bikes have shifted to simpler single or twin cylinder engines, which leaves inline-fours mostly for high-end superbikes or sports bikes. Except for some rare models, this engine type has been missing in the affordable segment. With these new launches, Honda is making the thrill of an inline-four more accessible to everyday riders, but is not expected to be launched in India anytime soon.
