Homemade Food Garlands Banned In This Country: Australia is the sixth-largest country in the world by area and is also listed among the most beautiful countries. Because of its high living standards it is a favourite destination for several Indians. In recent years Australia has also emerged as a major study hub for Indian students. Lakhs of Indians including tourists businessmen and students travel to Australia while adhering to the visa rules of the Oceanian country. Notably the visa rules are quite strict and travellers have to follow them carefully or else they may end up paying a hefty fine like Malayali actress Navya Nair.

The actress was invited to Melbourne by the Malayali Association of Victoria to participate in the Onam celebrations. She accepted the invitation and reached Australia but her trip turned out to be very expensive for her.
What Happened To Navya Nair At The Airport?
During the checking process at Melbourne Airport custom officers spotted a 15 cm long jasmine garland in her bag. The jasmine garland is a very common thing in South India where women use it to decorate their hair. The custom officers imposed a huge fine of Rs 1.14 lakh (about 1980 Australian dollars) on the actress.

Navya tried her best to explain to the customs officers that it was just a garland which is very common in India. But officers didn’t let her go. Eventually the actress left the airport only after paying a hefty fine.

Australia which is known for its natural beauty is known to be very strict for its bio-security rules. Things like – fresh or dried flowers from any foreign country are strictly prohibited as these things according to Australian government can pose a threat to the country’s biosecurity.
