Home care startup Happi Planet raises $2 million from Fireside, Prath Ventures

Home care products startup Happi Planet has raised Rs 18 crore ($2 million) in a funding round led by Fireside Ventures and Prath Ventures.“The funds will be used to identify newer home care categories to solve consumer needs, hire more talent, and double down on brand building,” said cofounder Nimeet Dhokai. The Mumbai-based company makes products in categories such as laundry care, kitchen care, and surface cleaning. So far, the company has raised Rs 27.75 crore ($3.1 million) in total.“A lot of home care is dominated by multinational companies (MNCs),” said Dhokai. “Large MNCs bring innovation but don’t focus on solving Indian problems, which we’re trying to. For instance, copper, bronze, and brass cleaners are essential here since they’re used more in India.”The company claims its products are made using plant-derived ingredients, making them safe for humans and the environment. The products are available on online marketplaces as well as its own direct-to-consumer website, which accounts for about 80% of its sales. The company’s topline has grown 15X in the last 12 months, Dhokai said, without revealing specific numbers. The basket value of each order is between Rs 700-1,000.“Home hygiene is a massive but under-innovated category — ripe for reimagination,” said Harmanpreet Singh, managing partner, Prath Ventures, in a prepared statement on Monday. Ankur Khaitan, principal at Fireside Ventures, an early-backer of Happi Planet, said, “...we are thrilled to deepen our partnership as they scale a category-defining brand in home care.”Founded in 2023 by Dhokai and Mayank Gupta, Happi Planet competes with brands like Tanglin Venture Partners-backed Beco, Eternal Capital-backed Cleevo, and 4P Capital-backed Koparo Clean.
