Regina Hall has revealed that she considered joining a convent ‘several times’, but was held back by a few entry requirements.
The actress, 54, is best known for her comedy movies such as Think Like A Man, Girls Trip, and the Scary Movie franchise, in which she plays Brenda Meeks.
While her characters in various cheeky and R-rated films may not be the holiest, she revealed in a recent interview that she seriously considered becoming a nun on multiple occasions.
‘I did [consider becoming a nun]. I did several times when I was in high school. And then again, when I was older, and I was too old,’ she said on the Good Hang podcast.
’39, that was the cut off, I was 41. They were like, “It’s not a backup plan, miss. Get on out of here.”‘
She explained that not every order has an age limit, for others it’s more important to learn about their history of sexual partners.

‘With some orders it’s a sleeping partner number thing — Four,’ she said, confirming you can only have slept with four people, then asking host Amy Poehler if she’d have made it – to which she laughed and replied no.
‘Some could be a certain amount of partners, some might be how many attachments that you have. Some you know, in the world – it’s hard – and some is age.’
She then explained what was attractive to her about that life: ‘I thought, ‘Wow, if you’d spend your life in prayer, prayer for others, I would imagine unless you’re healing. Because they don’t— you’re not really attached to anything material. Right?’ she explained.
‘So they wouldn’t have an outward striving of like… success, whatever that is, and no romantic heartbreak? Right? You don’t want to say love because that part is beautiful, but it’s the other side when Yeah. Whatever, whatever trauma, whatever reasons things don’t make it. And then, you had that singular focus.’
‘I’m sure that it’s not that easy. I’m just saying that was what I romanticised it would be if I did it. And I thought that was lovely.’
The star previously revealed she had slept with five people when she was 39, so she was not only too old, but had slept with too many people for the job.

This isn’t the first time Regina has spoken about this, revealing to The Jennifer Hudson Show in 2022: ‘I wanted to be a nun in high school because, I don’t know, I just really wanted to be a nun and then I met a boyfriend and that delayed it.
‘And then I to do it again, much older. But they had an age cut off. You know some have sexual partner cut off and some have an age cut off.
‘I missed both,’ she said with a smile at the audience.
‘Some you can’t have been with more than four, but I was right at five.’
