Hollow Knight: Silksong has a variety of Wish quests you can complete, including “Crawbug Clearing,” a mission where you have to collect special items named Ragpelts. These pelts are elusive, however, demanding that you defeat specific enemies to get them. This can easily make the quest tedious, but some simple tricks might help you finish it quickly.
While it is easy to miss, the “Crawbug Clearing” quest is essential to unlocking the hidden Act 3 of Hollow Knight: Silksong. This secret, extended part of the story only comes from the “Silk and Soul” Wish, which only becomes available when you complete every other side quest within the first two Acts.
How To Get The Crawbug Clearing Quest
Accept An Unusual Hunt From The Right Character
Like most Wishes, you’re only able to get the “Crawbug Clearing” quest by find the right interactions in the game. You have to travel to Bellhart and accept the quest from the Wishwell bulletin board, which lists the mission you want. By inspecting the board, you have the choice to accept the quest right away, starting it after you learn what it’s asking for.
This part of Bellhart that hosts the Wishwall is fairly easy to find through natural story progression. This small stop can be visited by going between paths that lead to Shellwood in the west and Greymoor to the east, in a place where some other characters you’ve met might reside.
Unlike interactions with other NPCs, like the Wandering Merchant, you don’t need to have completed a separate side quest in Silksong to unlock Creige or their Wishwall.
The objective you get with the “Crawbug Clearing” Wish is to collect at least 25 Ragpelts, an item type dropped by a particular kind of enemy. At the same time, you also have to pay attention to a hidden detail in Silksong here — who actually requested the Ragpelts in the first place.
The quest giver for this mission is Creige, the NPC found in the Halfway Home, a prominent location in the center of the Greymoor area. Visiting Creige can help you learn more details about Craws, the type of enemies that are relevant to the Wish you’ve taken on.
Where To Find Ragpelts
Farm Flying Enemies That Reside In One Area
Ragpelts are dropped by enemies called Crawbugs, flying foes who tend to spawn in other rooms within Greymoor. These enemies are sporadic, and aren’t always guaranteed to drop a Ragpelt, so players might struggle to gain the number needed for the “Crawbug Clearing” quest.
Yet, if you can find a good place where Crawbugs spawn frequently, you can simply defeat them once, rest, then return to that spot to farm Ragpelts until you have enough. The easiest place to farm Ragpelts is above the Halfway Home, where the quest giver Creige is.
The top of the Halfway Home is far easier to reach if you have specific tools in Hollow Knight: Silksong, such as Hornet’s Double Jump, Clawline Grappling Hook, or other pieces of equipment that increase your mobility.
Heading to the right exit of the Halfway Home reveals some platforms you can climb to the roof of the building. Here, two Crawbugs always appear on the Halfway Home roof, giving you a very close place to start farming the enemies. Simply go back into the Halfway Home and return to that spot to make the enemies respawn, creating a loop where you can gain 25 Ragpelts fast.
Once you have the Ragpelts you need, talk to Creige again to complete the quest. Doing this will reward you with a Spare Crafting Kit, which expands your existing Crafting Kit to new heights. Now, the tools you make will deal increased damage, amplifying ranged attacks, traps, or other equipment at Hornet’s disposal.
