Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Velenkosini Hlabisa has called on businesspeople and society to pull South Africa’s metros out of the mire.
Hlabisa has told the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber that the country was facing a real problem.
He says the City of Johannesburg, which used to be the pride and joy of South Africa, is dilapidated and needs urgent help.
Hlabisa was addressing the Business Chamber in Gqeberha, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local economic development and tackle service delivery issues.
The meeting aims to come up with plans to strengthen the local economy amidst a tough economic climate.
The Minister has attributed the loss of investors in the country to the mismanagement of municipalities and poor service delivery.
