SAUGATUCK, MI -- The roaring 20s are back in full swing at the Felt Estate, Michigan’s historic mansion. For the Felt Estate’s centennial celebration they’re partying like “The Great Gatsby,” which was published in the same year the mansion broke ground. The public is invited to join in the merriment 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29. The anniversary will lean in on the opulence of the time with its theme, “Holiday Unveiling: Glitz. Glamour. Gatsby!” Guests are invited to wear their best 1920s-inspired attire and step back into the glamour of the Jazz Age. The party will have live entertainment, period-themed experiences, and festive holiday décor. Make sure to wear your dancing shoes, flappers. Jeanette Watts will teach the moves to the Foxtrot and Charleston. The Gatsby fundraiser tickets are $115 and include appetizers, two drink tickets, and a commemorative ornament. There will also be a silent auction and raffle for a weekend stay at the mansion. All proceeds will support the mansion’s restoration. The 17,000-square-foot mansion began construction in 1925 when Chicago millionaire Dorr Felt purchased property near Lake Michigan for a summer home. It was completed three years later. Sitting on 15 acres, the Georgian mansion is now a popular events and wedding space. The estate typically decks the halls in 1920s glamour. December’s holiday tours walk visitors through lavishly decorated rooms and the community celebration of Winterfest from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. For more event information, visit feltmansion.org.
