Highland Heroes 2026 recognises the hard work and dedication of students in our high schools and academies across the region with the secondary school pupil of the year award.
The winner will be a secondary pupil who has overcome exceptional circumstances or obstacles to achieve success in education, sport or helping others at school.
NOMINATE your Heroes by midnight on Sunday, December 14.
Developing the Young Workforce Inverness & Central Highland (DYWICH) is sponsoring the category of secondary school pupil of the year.
Liz Fletcher, DYWICH programme lead, said: “At Developing the Young Workforce Inverness & Central Highland (DYWICH), we are absolutely delighted to once again sponsor the secondary pupil of the year category at the Highland Heroes 2026 awards. This category is always such an inspiring one, shining a spotlight on the incredible young people across our region who go above and beyond to support others and make a real difference in their schools and communities.
“Their stories remind us of the power of determination, kindness, and resilience. These pupils are true role models, showing the tenacity and can-do attitudes that will carry them far in life and are so highly valued in the world of work. Every nominee should feel incredibly proud of what they have achieved – not only for themselves but for the example they set for their peers.
“At DYWICH, we have the privilege of working with many remarkable young people every day across our 14 secondary schools. We see firsthand their commitment and potential, and we are constantly inspired by their energy and drive. This award is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all that they contribute, and we can’t wait to join in applauding every nominee and the eventual winner on the night.”
