ST. LOUIS (InvestigateTV) — At this Missouri high school, students are learning real-world experience each day. Behind the desk of the COPILOT program, electronic devices used by staff members are serviced by students under the guidance of Keith Loveless, the technology internship coordinator. “It’s real world. We help support the entire district as far as device repairs,” Loveless said. The program gives students hands-on experience with technology repair and maintenance. “Students will work on iPads, MacBooks, Chromebooks and Lenovo computers,” Loveless said. Student Baxter Bogeman said he enjoys the practical aspects of the work. “I like fixing everything. I like the working with my hands part of it,” Bogeman said. Through the Copilot program, Bogeman gets hands-on experience repairing devices from across the district. “From across the district teachers and staff will send in their devices like MacBooks, and phones and 3D printers here,” Bogeman said. 3D printers are Bogeman’s specialty. Program attracts students with tech interests Senior Emma Sprung’s interest in technology led her to sign up for the program. “I like the environment, helping out students and teachers and making sure everything is working fine,” Sprung said. For Loveless, the most rewarding part is watching students discover their potential. “When that lightbulb goes off and they’re like wow this is really cool. To me, that’s awesome,” Loveless said. The program provides students with real-world technical skills while supporting the entire school district’s technology needs. Watch more on the COPILOT program by clicking here.
