Tommy Horejes, Parkway South soccer
A sophomore forward, Horejes scored eight goals in three games over three consecutive days last week to help the Patriots post a 2-1 record. Horejes kicked it off with all four goals in a 4-0 win over Parkway North in a Suburban Conference Green Pool game. He added two goals in a 5-4 nonconference loss to Mehlville before providing two goals, including the game winner, in a 3-2 league win at previously unbeaten Affton. For the season, Horejes ranks among area leaders with nine goals and two assists. He was called up to varsity late last season as a freshman both in soccer and basketball and was the starting third baseman for South’s baseball team that finished third in the Class 6 state tournament.
Connor Muran, Parkway Central swimming
A junior and returning first team All-Metro swimmer, Muran led three-time defending state champion Central to the Ladue Invitational team title by winning two individual races and swimming on two winning relays. Each of the performances were state-leading times this season in Class 1. He won the 200 individual medley in 1 minute, 54.73 seconds, and the 100 butterfly in 51.53 seconds. Muran swam the breaststroke leg on Central’s winning 200 medley relay (1:39.87) with Serkan Patterson, Hunter Deutschmann and Nathan Malt, and was on the 200 freestyle relay that set a meet record in 1:30.10 along with Deutschmann, Winston Rees and Malt. Muran’s 50 free on that relay was a state-leading 21.68 seconds.
Maria Murry, Red Bud volleyball
The Musketeers (14-1) swept four matches to capture the championship of their own tournament, and Murry was named the event’s most valuable player. A junior libero, Murray helped Red Bud win six matches overall last week, and she ranks among St. Louis area leaders with averages of five digs, 3.3 service points and one ace per set. Murry hit a milestone by recording her 1,000th career dig during a 25-23, 25-15 win over Chester in a Cahokia Conference Illinois Division match. Two nights earlier, she had 29 digs in a three-set league victory at Okawville. In four tournament matches, Murry had 33 digs and six service aces while missing only one serve on 42 attempts.

A junior pitcher and shortstop, Oberle helped the Tigers go 6-0 last week including the title of Seckman’s annual Jerry Joyce tournament. She had a 3-0 pitching record over the week with two saves, striking out 33 while allowing only two earned runs and four walks. She had a career-high 15 strikeouts in a 6-0 conference victory against rival Hillsboro. Offensively last week, Oberle was 10 for 22 at the plate with one home run, four RBI, two walks and eight runs scored. For the season, she ranks among area leaders with a 7-1 pitching record with 63 strikeouts and a .97 ERA along with a .508 batting average with 18 RBI and three homers. She also helped Festus to the Union Tournament title to start the season.

He helped the Longhorns score 55 points to win the team title as well, edging Kirkwood by three points. The week before, Patten won the Parkway Quad and helped the Longhorns win that team title, as well. Patten opened his season by running a school record time of 15:22 to best a field of 283 runners in the Memphis Twilight, a performance that ranks sixth fastest for Missouri runners this season.
