HeyTap Shutdown Is Forcing Big Changes for OnePlus US Users

A major change is on the way for OnePlus users in the United States. It all comes down to a business decision by a third-party partner. A third-party company that has been handling OnePlus’s account services for several years is officially shutting down its U.S. operations. We are talking about HeyTap, whose shutdown has prompted OnePlus to make some significant adjustments to its account services, particularly for its online community.
In an email sent to users, HeyTap announced it would “officially discontinue its U.S. account services starting September 28, 2025.” HeyTap runs services for various brands. However, most U.S. users who have a HeyTap account likely created it through a OnePlus app for a device like the OnePlus Watch or OnePlus Buds. So, fans of the brand’s products are particularly affected. The HeyTap shutdown means that OnePlus has to build a new system to manage its U.S. accounts.
Why your OnePlus US account is getting a major change
This change is the primary reason for a major split in the OnePlus community. Starting on September 26, just two days before the HeyTap shutdown, U.S. accounts will no longer be able to log in or post on the current global OnePlus Community forum. Instead, OnePlus is launching a brand-new, U.S.-specific community forum along with a dedicated app.
This split means the U.S. community will no longer be part of the larger, global conversation. However, OnePlus has reassured users that all of their previous posts, comments, and photos will be available on the new U.S. platform.
OnePlus says the move is part of an effort to create a more “localized” experience with “tailored services.” For users who don’t live in the U.S. but registered their account there, OnePlus is urging them to update their region before the deadline. This way, they’ll avoid a lock out from the global forum.
