Advertisement - KOHAT, Nov 4 (APP):In a significant step toward enhancing the student welfare and community health, Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) is set to establish a Herbal Medicine Clinic in collaboration with Qurshi Industries. The initiative was announced by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Zafar Ilyas during a detailed media briefing here on Tuesday. Dr. Ilyas shared that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would soon be signed between the university and Qurshi Industries. Under the agreement, the clinic will provide free herbal medicines to students, faculty members, journalists, and community members, marking a unique public-private partnership aimed at promoting accessible healthcare. During the session, the vice chancellor addressed a range of topics including ongoing development projects, academic reforms, and student concerns. He emphasized the university’s commitment to resolving the registration issue of the nursing department, stating that all necessary preparations were being finalized ahead of the Pakistan Nursing Council’s upcoming visit. Dr. Ilyas revealed plans to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the academic ecosystem. An MoU was being signed with a tech organization affiliated with the Government of Pakistan to provide students access to modern AI tools and training, preparing them for future technological landscapes, he added. The university is also advancing its Open Distance Learning Program, designed to offer quality education to students unable to attend campus physically. This initiative aims to bridge educational gaps and ensure inclusivity. About Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, Dr. Ilyas confirmed that the distribution process had officially commenced. The laptops would be handed over to students immediately upon arrival, with selections made strictly on merit by the Higher Education Commission. He added that the university had received an additional quota this year, allowing more students to benefit from the scheme.
